A Population Explosion, Then a City
Roseville stayed a small farming community -- part of Orange Township, renamed Erin Township in 1843 -- until 1950. What followed was a genuine population explosion: thousands of new residents arrived through the decade, and hundreds of homes went up in a short span, ahead of the 1958 merger that formed the City of Roseville.
